Dangerous, Hazardous and Prohibited Items


Packages must not contain any dangerous or hazardous items as defined by IATA/IMO

Dangerous goods include articles and substances which are flammable, corrosive, toxic, oxidizing, explosive, radioactive, infectious, compressed gases, dangerous when wet, spontaneously combustible, self-reactive, organic peroxides and regulated material. The list below shows some examples: Aerosols, batteries, perfume, paints, fuel and / or fuel tanks, explosives, corrosives, firearms and ammunition, radioactive material, pressurised or unpressurised cylinders and / or similar type of containers or weapons of any description.

These are some of the items that are Dangerous and Hazardous goods which should not be shipped under any circumstances. For further information about Dangerous / Hazardous goods please visit the IATA website. If found within your consignment, items will be destroyed and you will be fined £200.

You are Responsible

It is your responsibility, as the sender, to make sure the contents of your consignments are acceptable and meet all policy and safety requirements. It is important to remember that you are the only person who knows what is inside of your shipment. By taking your parcel, neither Arab Africa Cargo nor the courier acknowledges that the contents are acceptable.

Hazard Labels to Look out for

Attention: If you are re-using second-hand packaging, please do not use any packaging with hazard labels, including UN numbers. Your consignment could be stopped and held even if you attempt to cover up the old labels. So please use a different box to avoid any delay and issues with your shipment.

Money (paper and coins)
Negotiable instruments (stocks, bonds, cash letters and other negotiable instruments equivalent to cash)
Commercial Quantities – items numbering more than twelve(12) piece count
Alcoholic beverages
Pornography or any pornographic materials
Firearms, ammunition, and war materials
Switchblade and flick knives
Dangerous and hazardous goods – Dangerous goods are articles or substances which are capable of posing a significant risk to health, safety or to property such as but not limited to:
Flammable Liquids
Flammable Solids
Oxidizing Substances and Organic Peroxides
Toxic (Poisonous) and Infectious Substances
Radioactive Material
Articles of Extraordinary Value or Valuable Cargo such as
Airline ticket stock
Archaeological artifacts
Articles of antiquity and antiques
Bank cards and/or credit cards
China, crystal, porcelain
Coins (collectable)
Furs (finished/unfinished, including pelts)
Fur clothing and fur-trimmed clothing
Gems (cut or uncut)
Glass/mirrors (cast, figured, framed, rolled)
Jewelry (other than costume)
Non-Negotiable Bonds/bond coupons
Non-Negotiable Securities
Non-Negotiable Shares/share coupons
Pearls (including cultured)
Precious metals: gold, silver, platinum, palladium, iridium, ruthenium, osmium, rhodium whether coined/uncoined, refined/unrefined, in any form including bullion, dore, casting, cyanide, sulfide-treated, dust, concentrate, foil, wire, sheet, tube, ingot, grain, powder, rod, sponge, gauze, etc.

Stamps (including collectable, postage, revenue, food
Stock certificates
Traveler’s checks
Watches made of precious metal and/or gems
Live animals and insects
Animal carcasses
Human corpses, human body parts, human embryos, or cremated or disinterred human remains
Articles or products from animals or plants protected under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora)
Lottery tickets and gambling devices where prohibited by law
Waste or garbage for disposal
Hazardous waste, including, but not limited to, used hypodermic needles or syringes, or other medical waste
Packages that are wet, leaking or emit an odor of any kind
Liquids such as but not limited to cooking oil, detergent, etc.
Shipments or commodities that are prohibited by any law, statute or regulation
Shipments that require us to obtain a local, state, provincial or federal license for their transportation
Shipments that may cause damage or delay to equipment, personnel or other shipments

Arab Africa Cargo is not liable for delay of, loss of or damage to a shipment of any prohibited item. The shipper agrees to indemnify Arab Africa Cargo for any and all costs, fees and expenses Arab Africa Cargo incurs as a result of the shipper’s violation of any local, state or federal laws or regulations or from tendering any prohibited item for shipment.
